Using Help

Use this procedure to access, navigate within, and close the online help available with the Teacher Access Center.

To access the Help System:

From any Teacher Access Center page, click in the top right-hand section of the page.
Drawers and pop-ups may include a help icon or tab ( or ) in their header. Click to access help specific to the drawer or pop-up. For example, the Competencies and Rubrics pop-up, Student Details drawer, and Assignment Details drawer include their own help icons or tabs.
The Help System displays in a new window. The initially-displayed topic describes the page on which you clicked the help button. For example, if you clicked the help button while on the IPR Entry page, the IPR Entry Page topic will display.

To navigate through the Help System:

The left panel of a help topic displays the Contents and Index tabs. Additionally, a search field displays at the top right corner of the banner. Use any of these options to navigate to a specified help topic:

Click the Contents tab to view the table of contents. Click on a book in the Contents to expand the book into topics. Click any topic to view.
Click the Index tab to display the Help System's word index. Click any entry to open the related topic.
Enter a search term in the Search field in the top right corner of the banner. Type in one or more words to quickly find all of the help topics that contain those words. Click on a topic name to view.

To find topics that contain all terms entered, use the PLUS SIGN (+) between terms.

Within a topic, you can click on underlined, blue or purple words to view help topics related to the underlined words. These words are links. For example, the words listed in the Related Topics section at the end of this topic are links. You can use your browser's forward/backward buttons to retrace help pages you've viewed.

Note: When using the Chrome browser, use ALT + LEFT ARROW to move backward and ALT + RIGHT ARROW to move forward in a sequence of viewed help pages.

To close the Help System:

Click the close button on the browser window displaying the Help System.
Caution: Be sure that the close button you click is for the Help System, not for the Teacher Access Center itself.
