Teacher Access Center (TAC) allows you to select to display the students for a single course-section or for multiple course-sections that meet in the same period. There are a variety of scenarios where a teacher may be responsible for multiple course-sections in the same period. For example, you may be responsible for a grade-combination (first and second grade reading) or a level-combination (French III and IV) classes.
In some situations, the classwork for the combination classes may be similar so you would want to work with students in the multiple classes in Gradebook. While in other scenarios, you may take attendance using multiple classes, but work with individual classes in Gradebook.
TAC provides this functionality by allowing you to select to work in Multiple or Single mode:
TAC includes a Multiple/Single Mode selector to enable you to select the mode that fits your needs. The selector displays on the toolbar of pages that allow you to work in either Multiple or Single mode. The following illustration shows the selector as it appears on the Attendance Entry by List toolbar when a teacher is in Single mode.
The mode you select is retained as you navigate to other pages in TAC. So, if you select Multiple mode while on the Report Cards page and then navigate to the Attendance Entry by List page, you'll still be in Multiple mode.
In Multiple mode, the toolbar will display the period you selected instead of course-section information. The students from the multiple classes that meet in the period will be listed in alphabetical order and a Course column displays indicating the course-section for each student.
The following illustration shows the Attendance Entry by List page in Multiple mode.
If you are using Gradebook Entry in Multiple mode, there are additional changes to the display. For more information, refer to Using the Gradebook Page for Multiple Classes.
The Class List selector displays an indicator next to the course-sections that are included in Multiple mode for the period. Click Change to display the Class List selector. In the following image, the period 4 classes have been outlined in red to illustrate how you can tell which course-sections are combined for a period.
Refer to the following chart for an explanation of how the options that provide Multiple mode determine which course-sections to combine.
